What is it about? What is its origin? Is it a town, a community or a people? Did he arrive as a pilgrim and settled in the outskirts of Egosi? He traded and developed the prowess of reproduction engineer of a great family with ingenuity. His reproduction expertise and affluence transformed him into a polygamist and he created a harem and had fewer men than women who have now dispersed ilnto Diaspora like the children of Israel. His intelligence, education and wealth upgraded him to a community head and a social magnate. You can see the evidence and gene of these attributes in his children, grand children and great grand children. Before his settling in Egosi he had transverse a part of Nigeria as a businessman and a public officer who spoke and wrote good English above the level of his day. He was good-looking, slender, medium height, elegant, wise, respected and full of integrity. His original land of settlement, Egosi, has now expanded into adjoining neighborhood and all renamed as Ilupeju, lifting and upgrading the glory, population, and political status of the amalgamated people. Obviously they speak the same dialect with the same accent. As a matter of fact Ekitis identify their towns with a hyphenation, – , .any Ekiti town that is not so hyphenated e:g Ilupeju-Ekiti, ikole-Ekiti, Ijero-Ekiti for identity except a very few like Ijesa-Isu,Aise-egba, Oke-Mesi. For example as a differentiation of ilupeju-ekiti from ilupeju-Egbado.How do we let the world know he once existed, and created a lot of wealth, went away from us empty-handed, as we all will do,but left a name like the Windsor of Great Britain!
How do we honor this hero of our people? Do we create and give him the posthumous title of a king? How do we celebrate him or how do we remember him? With an irony of fate a great administrator has emerged that will deliver the payload. we will succeed if only we cooperate, are willing, and enthusiastic. God give us the patience, interest, ability and time. The success will be an assistance and a good example. We will all be happy.
